What to Wear to a Music Festival

If you’re hitting the concert circuit, you know it’s not just about the music. It’s also about the style. You want to wear something that’s InstaWorthy, but you also need to be comfortable enough to enjoy the show. Here are five tips to follow when putting together an outdoor concert look.

1. Wear comfortable shoes.

I’ll admit, this is sometimes problematic for me. I don’t really own a lot of flat shoes. For outdoor concerts, I usually wear ankle boots or gladiator style sandals. The choice always depends on the weather. Even though a lot of the concerts I attend are at Bethel Woods – the site of the original Woodstock, having my bare feet covered in mud is not a Woodstock moment I wish to recreate.horizontal-spacer2. Layer up.

Weather can change in an instant. You can’t let loose and enjoy the music if you’re too hot or too cold. A shirt or jacket that can be tied around your waist works perfectly for both outdoor and indoor facilities.horizontal-spacer3. Wear a hat.

A great hat (and plenty of sunscreen!) can protect your face from harmful rays and nasty sunburn during the day. It can also ensure a good hair day all day, regardless of rain or humidity.

4. Find the perfect crossbody.

Most concert venues now have limits on the size of bags you can bring into an event. Buy a crossbody bag that is large enough to hold your I.D., phone, sunglasses and lipstick, but that is small enough to make it though security.

5.  Choose your concert crew carefully.

Whether it’s your partner, boyfriend, girlfriend, gay friend, or best friend, make sure the person or people you go with share your vibe. It’s a long day, alcohol is involved, and the only drama you need to experience should be coming from the stage.
