Monday marked the fifth day of New York Fashion Week and the word of the day seemed to be ladylike. Tory Burch showed a gorgeous collection of feminine frocks and separates with delicate floral prints, intricate embroidery, and oversized bow blouses.
Every Tory Burch fan will be wearing the black & white day dress in the fall as well as coveting the tailored coat with metallic gold flowers and black piping detail.
Years ago when I worked at Neiman Marcus, I could always tell if an item was an Oscar de la Renta piece without ever looking at the tag. It was the detailed beading and the overall weight of the garment. Every Oscar is a work of art, and this artistry was on display in the Oscar de la Renta runway show yesterday.
This was the debut collection of Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the current designers for Monse who previously worked with de la Renta for many years. There were far more separates and what seemed to be very casual pieces for a traditional Oscar collection, but there was definitely a spattering of red-carpet worthy gowns that the brand is known for.
Expect to see a few of these Oscars at the official Oscars next week.
Oscar de la Renta
I’ve been trying to mix up my wardrobe more and more these days, as I’m constantly influenced by street style, Instagram and other fashion blogs. My comfort zone is in dresses. They’re just so easy to throw on and they work best for my body type. But I am trying to put together more casual looks with jeans and separates, especially now that I work from home.
There were several denim pieces shown in the Camilla and Marc collection that I immediately placed on my “outfit inspo” board. I love the look of a crisp jacket with jeans and heels, and while I doubt I can pull off the denim shorts over jeans look shown below, I’m definitely inspired to up my denim game.
