What I Wore This Week

I work from home as a freelance writer, so I really don’t have to get dressed for work. I could stay in my PJ’s or workout clothes all day. Truth be told, I’ve been doing that for a long time. It’s a rut anyone who has ever worked from home can easily fall into. But it’s a rut I’m determined to get out of.

This week, I started “getting dressed” every morning and going downstairs to my home office. I’m determined to treat my freelance and Stylaphile business just like I would any job I’ve had in the past. I find that I am much more productive and focused when I do this. Plus, I have a closet-full of amazing clothes that deserve to be worn and enjoyed.

Of course, my work “uniform” has changed from when I worked in Manhattan every day. Comfort and practicality are the new standard. I no longer need to spend an hour fixing my hair. It simply goes in a ponytail or bun every morning. And I don’t wear stilettos around the house, which challenges me to find new ways to style flat shoes.

So from now on, you – my dear Stylaphile readers, will be my accountability partners. Every week I will post my Work-From-Home-Wardrobe choices and share my journey along the road to increased productivity and new choices in footwear.

Here’s what I wore this week…

This BB Dakota jumpsuit is so ridiculously comfortable, it’s the next best thing to staying in my pajamas. It has a completely open back with a tie at the neck, so you can’t really wear a bra with it. That’s probably another reason it’s so comfortable.

I found this Vivienne Tam lightweight sweater dress at one of my favorite consignment shops. The front is covered with vertical ruffles that hide any bloating on those days I want to splurge on pizza for lunch. I actually eat healthier now working from home than I ever did when I worked in the city. (Not as many wonderful food choices and office birthday parties!)

I found this adorable playsuit on a site called Chicwish. They have a lot of really great trendy pieces that are totally affordable. This romper is fully-lined and has the most beautiful sleeve detail. (Note: 2nd day of the week I’m not wearing a bra! #BurnTheBra #FreeTheNipple)

Every time I walk into Target, I walk out with at least one item of clothing. This Knox Rose high-lo dress is my latest acquisition. I added the vintage belt and have decided to call this look, “Little House on the Prairie Chic.

Tonight the manfriend and I are going to see Sting at Woodstock. It’s an outdoor concert and the temperature in New York is going down to 48 degrees. Perfect excuse to bust out my thigh-hi boots for the first appearance of the fall season. They go perfectly with a pair of leggings and this floral embroidered blouse from BooHoo.
