Manicure Monday | Ciate Paint Pots

Today's Manicure

Ciate Paint Pots in Cabaret

How do you solve a problem like my cuticles?

So everyone still seems to be abuzz about the recent live broadcast of “The Sound of Music.” Since I actually didn’t watch it, I can’t really weigh in or offer my opinion on the subject matter, except to ask why Kristen Chenoweth wasn’t involved.

A more pressing problem to solve right now is how the hell to get rid of my cuticles. Every week I think I’m getting better at doing my own manicures and then I look at the photos and there they are…remnants of cuticles that I’ve just spent the last hour soaking, moisturizing, pushing back, and cutting.

The manicurists at the nail salons make it look so easy, but I can never seem to get it right.

So I’m asking you, Stylaphiles, for some advice. How do you deal with your cuticles? Is there a specific product or technique that you use to prep your cuticles prior to a self-manicure?

Please share your thoughts and tips below. I’ll take all the help I can get!

  1. When you apply nail polish, do you paint all the way to your cuticle?
If you leave a small space, it’s easier to remove the polish and it won’t “harm” your cuticle. 🙂

  2. Yes, I have been applying all the way to the cuticle. Thanks for the tip! I will try that next Monday. (I never actually thought about the polish damaging my cuticles…thanks so much!)

  3. I can’t prove it, but I guess since cuticles are still skin, it would be better to not apply polish there. And when you apply hand lotion, you can be certain it actually gets to your cuticles cause they’re not covered by the polish.
Some people do it mainly for the reason because it looks better in their opinion 🙂
All I can say is that I haven’t had big issues with my cuticles since I applied nail polish that way.
    Hope this helped a bit!
