This has to be one of my favorite vintage finds to date.
Upon finding this treasure while trolling through the dress rack at a local Hudson Valley consignment shop, I actually screamed out, “Oh My God!” The adorable sales clerk ran over to see if I was okay and I asked her if the price of this amazing piece was really $13. (It was.)
I couldn’t believe my luck. The dress probably weighs about five pounds with all the embellishments and is 100% wool. I didn’t even try it on because I knew I would do whatever it took to fit into it, even if that meant having a rib removed. (Cher did it. So can I.)
Luckily, it fit me almost perfectly. It’s just a little tight underneath the arms, but I’m sure I can have it altered to fit a bit more comfortably. The dress was in perfect shape and the hand sewn details are amazing!
I cannot sing the praises of consignment and thrift stores enough. At least half of my wardrobe is comprised of these types of finds. Not only do I get incredible, one-of-a-kind pieces, but I completely enjoy the thrill of the hunt.
