Trend I’m Trying: Two-Toned Lips

One of the things that stood out to me when viewing all the FW2012 shows was how the hair and makeup trends that paraded down the runway were just as (if not more so) exciting than the actual clothes. While a few of these trends take a professional makeup artist to pull off (hello Chanel “bling brows”), most of the others can be achieved on your own with products you already have in your makeup kit.

I decided to try the two-toned lip look that appeared in several runway shows this fall including Gucci and Nina Ricci. I don’t have a wide variety of colors in my lipstick collection, as I’ve previously blogged about how having such huge lips can be an issue when trying really bright shades. So I chose to contrast a deep brown shade from Elizabeth Arden called “Autumn” with a light pink shimmery shade called “Pink Parfait” by Estee Lauder.

What do you think of the result? Would you or have you tried this trend? If so, send me a photo to stylaphile@gmail.com and I’ll add it this post!

  1. Love the makeup from the Dior show in the bottom right picture, but I think this is a trend more appropriate in magazines than Monday mornings at the office.
